Every year we look forward to Christmas at Merry Ministries. This year we have a couple of extra-special events planned as we conclude our semester. We will be wrapping up our study of Revelation with a great big Christmas bow as I talk about the new heaven and the new earth. How’s that for multi-tasking? 😉 I hope it will all come together for you with a lesson I have titled, “A Heavenly Christmas!” It will be a very meaningful and uplifting time, and I encourage you to come and bring a friend to one or both of our two events.
Tuesday, December 7th
We will start the evening with a potluck dinner at 5:30 in the Great Hall of Sugar Land First United Methodist Church. The tables will be decorated with various Christmas themes. After the dinner, we will move to the sanctuary for the music and lesson at 6:30 p.m.
The music will be awesome as we have Lisa Pierre returning this year to spread a little Christmas cheer. Lisa is Beth Moore’s worship leader and was also with the Women of Faith praise team for many years. Lisa is fun, entertaining and inspiring. She will rock the house. YOU do not want to miss Lisa or the lesson!!! Wednesday, December 8th
Author, composer, and singer Cornelia Jones-Post has performed regional opera in New York and in Europe, including the noted Salzsburg Festival and Bregenz Festival in Austria. We are delighted that she will be performing for Merry Ministries in the sanctuary at Sugar Land First United Methodist Church for our Christmas program.
Cornelia, a native Texan born in Houston, has worked Off-Broadway and in regional theaters with such notable companies as “The Negro Ensemble Theatre,” “Cross-Road Theatre” and ”Amistad World Theatre.” She is the author and composer of four dramatic musicals titled “Antebellum,” the musical comedy “Something’s Stanking In Here!” and numerous choral and chamber works, as well. Ms. Post studied at the Juilliard School of Music and the Manhattan School of Music.
Sally Kolenda, one of Cornelia’s students and a member of Merry Ministries, will join Cornelia for a duet. We will also have a dramatic dance by another Merry Ministries’ member, Amy Crawford, who will perform to “Breath of Heaven.”
And then, of course, there’s “A Heavenly Christmas” lesson! Following the lesson, we will move to the Great Hall for a wonderful potluck luncheon.
