“We ARE a smart group!” (quoting our latest AMAZINGRACE video.) Truly you are if you hung in there this week as I served up a very deep, meaty 11 chapters of Ezekiel! Several of you told me that you want to watch it again on Vimeo and that is a good idea. I was talking fast and giving out lots of info. I have also attached the latest PDFs that go with the lesson (outline) including one of the encampment in the shape of the cross (chapter 1 PDF). (See the MESSAGES page for the video and handouts.)
Zeke’s AMAZINGrace got off to a fast start! Ezekiel was a 30 year old Jewish priest living in captivity in the Babylonian Empire when God called him into service as a prophet. Right off the bat, God gave him his first vision of the four living creatures (cherubim) and an appearance of God (theophany). My friend, Lauran, sent me this video which helps me visualize it in a way I never have before. It combines the info from chapters 1 & 10, and yes, there were eyes all over the bodies of the four living creatures (Ez. 10:12). Check this out: #5 Ezekiel 1 + 10, Prophet Ezekiel’s Vision of God,Cherubim,4 living …
The theme of Zeke’s book is the sovereignty of God. He was, is and will always be sovereign. It is BEST to do what He says. God warned His people what was going to soon take place because of their wickedness, disobedience and idolatry. God’s punishment is certain and justified.
Did any of you go to the grocery store and buy some Ezekiel bread after reading about it in chapter 4? You can find it in the frozen bread section of most grocery stores. It have scripture on the wrapper. It is good and healthy. I prefer toasting it as opposed to the way Zeke had to cook it.
A couple of my my favorite verses from this week are: 3:10 “… all my words that I shall speak to you receive in your heart and hear with your ears.” Also 11:19 “And I will give them one heart, and a new spirit I will put within them. I will remove the heart of stone from their flesh and give them a heart of flesh.”
My favorite part of the lesson had to do with the glory of the LORD. I tied that all together in the last ten minutes of the lesson. I hope that helped you connect the dots. You can start the Vimeo at the 58:30 point to catch that.
Truly, you are the smartest and the BEST!!!
“My only aim is to finish the [AMAZING] race and complete the task given me by the Lord Jesus–the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.” Acts 20:24
