Merry Christmas!

We had a great fall semester at Merry Ministries as we covered the first thirteen chapters of the Gospel of John. We ended the semester with our Christmas Celebration with Lisa Pierre doing our special music. The lesson was titled, “Let the Light of Hanukkah Shine into Your Christmas.” We looked at the history of Hanukkah beginning in the second century B.C. and moving forward to Jesus celebrating it in John 10. We saw how Jesus was the fulfillment of that Feast of Lights as He is the Light of the World.

For the background and history, I used the Jewish Talmud, “The Antiquities of the Jews” by Josephus and the books of 1 & 2 Maccabees. I made the comment, “Where else but Merry Ministries can you go to listen to a Baptist woman speaking in a Methodist church using the Catholic Bible to teach about a Jewish holiday?” No where else I know. If you missed this lesson, please watch it on our Messages Page.

We resume Merry Ministries continuing on in John beginning January 6 @ 6:30 and January 7 @ 9:30. I hope to see you there!

May you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
